"Controversial principals are not new to the Federal Way school district. In March 2000 Linda McInturff resigned her position at the Federal Way Internet Academy.McInturff was suspended from her position Oct. 22, 1999 after allegations arose of financial mismanagement, misuse of technological resources and harassment of school employees. Complaints regarding McInturff's behavior were raised by the school's former webmaster/server administrator, Rick Landry. Landry claimed McInturff harassed and humiliated employees with management behavior akin to a tyrant.During the calendar year 2000, the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction opened 12 investigations on educators who held a valid principal administrator certificate, according to the Office of Professional Practices.None of those files were opened due to allegations of failure to report child abuse as in Kelley's case.
