"A King County jury found a 22-year-old man guilty Tuesday of trying to kill a store clerk during a robbery attempt in Federal Way last January. After a trial lasting about two weeks, Ralph D. Dunuan of Auburn was convicted of first-degree attempted murder and first-degree attempted robbery. A sentencing date will be scheduled later, said Dan Donohoe, spokesman for the King County Prosecutor’s Office.Wearing a white mask similar to one in the movie “Scream,” Dunuan entered a 7-Eleven store at 32935 First Ave. S. at about 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 6.After shooting clerk Pradip Bishowkarma, then 22 years old, in the head with a handgun, Dunuan tried to open the store’s cash drawer but fled empty-handed. A few minutes later, a customer found Bishowkarma sitting in a chair behind the counter, conscious but bleeding with a bloodied phone in his hands. Store surveillance cameras recorded the incident. Following media accounts, police received a tip that led to Dunuan’s arrest about a week later.Bishowkarma underwent 6 1/2 hours of surgery at Harborview Medical Center, then was placed in intensive care in critical condition. He was later upgraded to satisfactory condition and survived the wound.Dunuan could receive a sentence of at least 20 years in prison, Donohoe said. "
