Man and dog hit by car

A 55-year-old man walking in Federal Way with his wife and dog was struck and injured by an automobile Tuesday morning.

According to the Federal Way Police, the couple were crossing South 312th Street in a crosswalk at 14th Avenue South when a car traveling west on 312th hit the man and the dog.

An Airlift Northwest helicopter transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment of head injuries, police reported. His condition hadn't been disclosed by Tuesday afternoon.

The dog, whose condition also wasn't disclosed, was taken to a local animal hospital.

The woman and the driver of the vehicle weren't injured, officials said.

The accident was reported to police at about 5:55 a.m. The driver was reported as a 60-year-old man.
