Upcoming meetings on proposed annexation
Meetings on annexation
Federal Way will host five educational and informational meetings between June 21 and Aug. 2 to allow residents in the city's proposed annexation area to ask questions about the process.
All the meetings will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at local elementary schools.
King County and city officials will detail changes in taxes and police services, among other topics, for the proposed 20,000 annexed residents.
The meetings will help voters within the annexation area, located east of Interstate 5, make a decision as to whether the city should annex and increase its population to more than 100,000. Voters in the proposed annexation area will have the opportunity to cast their votes in Washington state's primary election on Aug. 21.
If the annexation is approved, Federal Way will incorporate the area July 1, 2008. A map of the proposed annexation area can be found at www.cityoffederalway.com/Page.aspx?page=1209. For more information, contact Isaac Conlen at (253) 835-2643.
