No injuries, but big loss in house fire

From staff reports

South King Fire and Rescue firefighters responded to a house fire at 5:29 a.m. July 25 in the 31500 block of 39th Avenue Southwest in Federal Way.

Four fire engines, a ladder engine and an aid unit were dispatched to handle the fire, SKFR spokeswoman Donna Conner said. Upon arrival, crews discovered the fire burning in the attic and residential areas of the home. Firefighters gained control over the flames within 40 minutes, Conner said.

South King Fire and Rescue along with the King County Fire MarshalÂ’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire, which is estimated to have caused $450,000 in damage to the house and its contents, she said.

The family living in the house was not home when the fire erupted and nobody was injured, Conner said. They are residing with family in the area for the time being, she said.
