From staff reports:
Federal Way will hold its second annual Christmas tree lighting event from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at The Commons Mall.
The free event, titled "Lights On, Federal Way," will feature music from the Federal Way Youth Symphony, the Jet Cities Chorus and the Harmony Kings. Refreshments will be available, and the first 100 attendees will receive holiday glow sticks to add to the festive atmosphere.
Mayor Skip Priest will choose a child from the audience to help him light the Christmas tree at 4:30 p.m. The event will take place at the mall's northwest entrance, near the FedEx/Kinko's store.
The event is made possible by the Federal Way Arts Commission and the City of Federal Way, and is sponsored by The Commons. The lights of the tree, and the lights throughout the city, will stay lit until New Year's Eve.
