Hit and run suspect caught after second collision this week
Mirror staff reports:
The suspect in a previous hit-and-run accident was apprehended Thursday morning after he fled the scene of another accident.
A two-vehicle collision was reported at 8:12 a.m. Nov. 29 at South 348th Street/State Route 18, just east of Enchanted Parkway in Federal Way.
A Ford Expedition was traveling westbound and crossed over into eastbound lanes, striking a pickup truck head-on, according to the Washington State Patrol. The driver of the Expedition, a 33-year-old female, is under investigation for DUI, according to the state patrol.
The pickup truck’s passengers, which included a 5-year-old child who was properly restrained, suffered minor injuries, according to the state patrol. No other injuries were reported.
The male passenger of the Expedition fled the scene on foot and was apprehended by Federal Way police a short while later in the 34000 block of 16th Avenue South. The passenger currently faces no charges related to the collision, but the investigation is ongoing, according to the state patrol.
However, the man faces potential felony hit-and-run charges for his alleged involvement as a driver in a previous collision that occurred Nov. 27 in the 1200 block of South 320th Street, according to a Federal Way police spokeswoman. The extent of the injuries caused by the Nov. 27 accident are unknown, the spokeswoman said, and Federal Way police are still working on that case.
