Mirror staff reports:

A Federal Way man died around noon Wednesday when his car plunged off an overpass near downtown Tacoma.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports that Scott Jablon, 58, lost control of his Ford Taurus on State Route 509 while on his way to meet a friend for lunch. The car plummeted 32 feet off the overpass and landed on Interstate 705.

The family is awaiting autopsy results. Troopers suspect Jablon may have suffered a medical emergency before the crash because there were no signs of the vehicle braking, according to the report.

Jablon was an attorney who occasionally wrote letters to the Federal Way Mirror, most recently in July to support state representative candidate Linda Kochmar. Jablon was active in Republican politics in the Federal Way area.
