Des Moines Police arrested a 19-year-old woman for investigation of first-degree assault after she reportedly stabbed and injured a 24-year-old woman.

The woman stabbed the other woman three times during an altercation at about 1:16 a.m. Monday in the 21600 block of 28th Avenue South, according to a Des Moines Police media release.

King County Sheriff's Office deputies and the Des Moines Police responded to a report of a fight. When officers arrived, they found the victim. They also found the 19-year-old woman at the scene and took her into custody without incident.

Paramedics transported the older woman to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers determined that the two women, who were in a former domestic relationship, met, argued and then fought. Detectives are investigating to determine what led to the altercation and stabbing.
