Late night 3-car crash kills woman in Federal Way

A 48-year-old woman was killed in a car crash in Federal Way, the victim of a suspected drunk driver.

The collision occurred around 11 p.m. Thursday between three vehicles in the 37000 block of Pacific Highway South.

According to police, the suspected drunk driver's Honda S2000 was heading northbound on Pacific Highway without its lights on. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck the deceased woman's Honda Civic head-on, causing the Civic to go airborne. The Civic landed sideways and was struck by the third driver.

Police suspect the driver of the S2000 was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. According to police, the woman is 32 years old, without any prior DUI convictions, although she was driving with a suspended license.

The police noted that the suspected drunk driver had her 4-year-old son in the car with her at the time of the accident. The child suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash.

The third driver, an adult male, suffered only minor injuries. The victims have not been identified.
