Transient makes threats with wood | Federal Way crime blotter

Following is a sample from the Federal Way police log:

• Homeless man wielding 2x4: At 10:09 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 33000 block of Pacific Highway South, officers responded to a call of a homeless man wandering around threatening people with a 2x4 piece of wood. According to the police report, the officers went to a well known transient encampment and found the man. Also, according to the police report, the man assaulted an officer. He was arrested and booked after the altercation.

• Lock your vehicle: At 8:30 a.m. Nov. 2 in the 30000 block of 8th Avenue South, a man reported that a 1999 van had been stolen. According to the report, the van had been left unlocked with the keys inside. Also according to the report, the van belonged to the man’s employer.

• Forcible entry: At 2:54 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 2200 block of South Star Lake Road, a woman reported that another woman forcibly entered her residence while she was home. According to the report, there were no signs that the other woman had damaged or taken any property. The woman whose home was forcibly entered into said the other woman fled in a vehicle.

• Burglary 1: At 4:46 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 27000 block of 23rd Avenue South, a victim reported his/her home had been burglarized. According to the police report, the victim reported more than $6,900 in personal items were stolen.

• Burglary 2: At 5:26 p.m. Nov. 3 in the 27000 block of 23rd Avenue South, another victim reported a burglary. According to the police report, the suspect gained entry through an unlocked sliding door. The suspect took approximately $3,000 in jewelry and a smartphone from the victim.

• Disgruntled former employee: At 12:46 a.m. Oct. 30 in the 34000 block of Pacific Highway South, a business owner reported someone had been stealing from the cash register. According to the report, the owner also indicated someone had taken $13,000 from his personal account without permission. The owner felt an ex-employee was probably responsible.

• Casino promises: At 3:30 p.m. Nov. 2 in the 1300 block of South 324th Street, the reporting party indicated they had been gambling at a local casino with an acquaintance. According to the police report, the acquaintance asked the reporting party if they could exchange a $2,000 check for $2,000 in cash. The reporting party agreed. However, when they attempted to cash the check from the acquaintance, the check was rejected. The reporting party indicated they had attempted to contact the acquaintance, but had not been able to do so, and indicated they would take civil action if needed.

• Burglary 3: At 9:51 a.m. Oct. 31 in the 34000 block of 11th Avenue SW, the victim reported a burglary. An unknown suspect gained entry through an unlocked door and took a laptop computer, a purse and a vacuum cleaner.
