A 19-year-old Des Moines woman was shot and killed at about 2:40 a.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Redondo Way South in Des Moines.
Jayme Thomas died from the gunshot wounds Saturday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to Des Moines Police. A 24-year-old man was shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries, according to a Des Moines Police media release.
Police are trying to identify and find the two men who reportedly fired the shots at Thomas and the man.
According to witnesses, a verbal confrontation occurred between two separate groups before the shooting. Witnesses stated two men started passing a gun around and then fired shots into a vehicle where Thomas sat.
The men are described as an Asian male in his early 20s and a black male in his early to late 20s. They fled the scene before police arrived.
Witnesses told police that the men left in two vehicles.
One car is a 1990 to 1995, flat-black Honda Civic two door with black and chrome after market rims and tinted windows. The second car is a lowered 1990 to 1995 primer black Honda Civic two door with black spoke rims, a large chrome muffler, no front license plate, tinted windows and recent body work near the rear driver's side wheel well.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Des Moines Police at 206-878-3301.
