Lakeland Elementary students will start later

From staff reports:

Lakeland Elementary School students will start their school year later than the rest of the Federal Way School District because of the finishing touches needed for the new school, 35827 32nd Ave. S. Lakeland students start Sept. 6 instead of Sept. 1.

The delay will allow “staff ample time to prepare their classrooms for the start of the school year,” and that “plans to make up those days will be announced later in the school year,” according to the district. Lakeland’s grounds will still be considered a construction zone through the first weeks of school. 32nd Avenue South will stay intermittently closed to through traffic. Drop-off instructions are being sent to all parents of Lakeland students. Call (253) 945-3000.
