Kent man in high speed chase through multiple cities caught in Federal Way by state trooper

A 45-year-old Kent man was arrested and booked into the King County jail following a vehicle pursuit through multiple cities in King and Pierce County ending at 320th Street and Gateway Center Boulevard in Federal Way.

According to initial reports from the Washington State Patrol the man was driving a 2001 Ford Econoline van and was being pursued by the state patrol and other police agencies at about 2:30 a.m. today, Aug. 2

A state patrol trooper did a PIT or pursuit immobilization technique to end the chase. A PIT maneuver is when police officer uses his car to force a vehicle in pursuit to spin sideways and come to a stop.

The trooper used the PIT technique and the van was stopped. Neither the driver nor the trooper were injured.

After bringing the van to a stop the driver again tried to flee, but the trooper pinned the van against a light pole.

The man was arrested for felony eluding.

Early reports are the van was stolen.
