Drake enters race for Federal Way School Board vacancy

Liz Drake has announced her candidacy for Federal Way School Board position 3.

Drake recently retired as principal from Todd Beamer High School. Public education has been a vital part of her life for the past 40 years. She has been a teacher and administrator in England, Pennsylvania and most recently here in Federal Way. She completed her undergraduate degree in England, and a master's degree, principals certification and superintendent’s letter at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania, according to a news release.

As president-elect of Communities in Schools of Federal Way, Drake endorses “all students graduating poised for success,” and will work to achieve this vision if she is elected as a school board director, according to the release. To learn more, email or visit

Filing deadline for candidates is June 6-10. The 2011 primary election is slated for Aug. 16, and the 2011 general election is Nov. 8.
