Federal Way resident and political newcomer Keith Tyler has announced his intention to file as a candidate for Federal Way City Council position 7.

“I believe our city needs to let go of some of its outdated notions, and its fear of growth, change, and new ideas,” he wrote in a statement issued Monday. Tyler works in the software industry and is active in local Democratic party activities, including service as a precinct committee officer. He also ran a Federal Way blog. An official campaign website and contact information is forthcoming.

Deputy Mayor Dini Duclos, who was elected to position 7 in 2007, kicked off her campaign on March 15. Duclos is CEO for the Multi-Service Center, which serves low-income families in South King County. To learn more, visit www.DiniDuclos.com.
