King County Medical Examiner rules woman's death in shed fire an apparent suicide

A 48-year-old woman died Sunday after being severely burned in a fire at a home she was living at in unincorporated King County. The King County medical examiner has ruled the death a suicide.

Firefighters from South King Fire and Rescue responded to a call of a burning shed around 11:30 a.m. Sunday at a home at 29630 40th Place South. They found the woman lying on the lawn between the home and a burning shed.

Paramedics at the scene revived the woman, but she died about an hour later at before arriving at Harborview Medical Center.

The King County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

The woman was the ex-wife of a South King firefighter and it was his home where she was found. She had been staying with her ex-husband, according to a press release from Deputy Chief Gordie Olson.
