Nightly lane closures for southbound I-5 this week in Federal Way

From staff reports:

Crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation will close lanes on southbound Interstate 5 at State Route 18 this week to restripe the freeway and place barrier. This work is part of a project to make improvements to the I-5/SR 161/SR 18 interchange in Federal Way.

• Tuesday, Sept. 21, through Friday, Sept. 24: Crews will close the left lane of southbound I-5 at SR 18 at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. A second lane will close at 8 p.m., a third lane will close at 10 p.m. and a fourth lane will close at midnight. Two lanes will open each morning at 5 a.m., a third lane will open at 6 a.m. and the fourth lane will open at 1 p.m. This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of rain.

• The I-5/SR 161/SR 18 Triangle project is expected to improve traffic flow and safety by replacing two cloverleaf ramps with new flyover ramps at the I-5/SR 18 interchange. For more information on the $112.5 million project, visit the WSDOT website.
