In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, the Federal Way Public Schools AmeriCorps Team will partner with the King County Housing Authority AmeriCorps team and Washington State Parks to host an Earth Day Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 23 at Saltwater State Park. The event is free.

Students from local school districts and private schools, as well as home-schooled students, are invited to attend the fair. Exhibits and workshops are designed to align with the state requirements for environmental science education for preschool and elementary school students.

The theme of this year’s fair is “It’s your world, take care of it.” Interactive exhibits and booths will include watershed education, salmon life cycle, live sea creature touch tanks, hazardous waste management and recycling. There will also be guided beach and forest walks, arts and crafts, learning games and a musical presentation by the Washington State Native American Flute Circle. Park rangers, educators and staff from the Department of Wildlife will talk with children about their career choices.
