Eide sponsors Johnson as page

Federal Way resident Stevin Johnson recently served as a page for one week in Olympia. Sponsored by Sen. Tracey Eide, D-Federal Way, Johnson, 14, learned how the Legislature and its various committees operate.

Johnson, son of Scott Johnson and Jina Shoultz, attends Sacajawea Junior High School, where he is in the ninth grade. Stevin enjoys baseball, computers, camping and music.

Each year approximately 280 young people, ages 14-16, participate in the page program. A page school allows students to keep up their school work while learning about the Legislature. In addition, pages provide invaluable assistance to legislators by delivering messages to the floor of the House and Senate, and carrying documents to various locations on the capitol campus.
