Single seniors dine out monthly at Black Bear Diner
February 6, 2013 · 3:32 PM
Mirror staff reports:
Barbara Yakovetz started a group for single seniors in Federal Way after meeting a pair of "romeos" — which stands for "retired old men eating out."
She hosts a monthly dinner at Black Bear Diner, where the women outnumber the men. In fact, at the last meeting, 18 people showed up, including one male.
"We still don't get enough guys," said Yakovetz, a Marine Hills resident who has been married 45 years.
The group is for single seniors ages 55 and up. There is no agenda and no pressure. The focus is on fun and conversation, with Yakovetz adding that seniors aren't obliged to stay if they don't want to.
The next monthly dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at the private backroom in Black Bear Diner, 32065 Pacific Highway S., near South 324th Street. To learn more, contact bbdineout@gmail.com or (253) 332-4126.
