Recipe corner: Rose's Easy Creamy Pasta Sauce

Rose's Easy Creamy Pasta Sauce

• 1/2 cup chopped onions

• 3-4 cloves of garlic, chopped or minced

• 1 pound of Fletchers Italian bulk sausage

• Lawry's garlic salt

• Pepper

• 1 large can (15 oz.) tomato puree

• 1 small can Italian diced tomatoes with basil and oregano

• 1 handful fresh basil (chopped)

• 1 bunch broccoli flowerets (about 1 1/2 to 2 cups)

• 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)

• 1/4 to 1/2 cup whipping cream

Brown sausage with onions and garlic. Drain.

Season with garlic salt and pepper to taste.

Add tomato sauces and basil and simmer for about 15 minutes.

Add broccoli and mushrooms, then cover and steam until broccoli is done but still crisp, about 5 minutes.

Add 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup whipping cream (stir in slowly until you get a creamy color).

Serve over your favorite pasta.

"I made this pasta sauce with whipping cream only because it was the smallest container available. It could be made with half and half or milk to get that creamy flavor." — Submitted by Rose Schuler, Federal Way resident
