FUSION (Friends United to Shelter the Indigent, Oppressed and Needy) held its 18th annual summer fundraiser on Aug. 3 at Dumas Bay Centre in Federal Way. Click here to view a photo slideshow from the event.

This year’s event, Fantasia, will help raise awareness as well as generate funds to operate and maintain FUSION’s 16 transitional housing units in Federal Way and Northeast Tacoma. The annual festival usually raises about $100,000 or more to go toward the non-profit organization.

FUSION’s mission is to break the cycle of homelessness, poverty and abuse. The hope is to successfully reintegrate families into the community through education and life-skills development while having a place to call home. FUSION units are painstakingly maintained by an all-volunteer crew who lovingly refurbish these homes for each new family.

The summer arts festival on Aug. 3 featured local artwork and artists as well as live and silent auctions. Scarff Ford in Auburn donated a 2012 Ford Fusion car for silent bidding. For more information, visit www.fusionfederalway.org or call (253) 941-0820.
