Hello, my name is Gertie, and I need a home | Pet of the Week

Gertie is a 10-year-old female black cat, domestic medium hair (ID #A509871). Gertie came to the shelter as a very difficult cat to manage and was placed in a foster home to see if some home love and care could calm her. After months in foster care, Gertie is a changed cat. She still has opinions on how things should be but enjoys being petted and brushed, and has a rumbling purr she readily shares. She is ready for a forever home where she can ideally rule over her own private space as the only kitty. She needs a forever family who is willing to learn her signals and respect her limits. Winning her heart is well worth the patience it will require. Gertie is in foster care, and you will need to contact her foster mom Melodye at melodyej63@msn.com. Gertie is litter-box trained, spayed, current on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Her $30 adoption fee also includes 30 days of pet insurance through Trupanion and a free office visit to the veterinarian of your choice. You can find out more about Gertie on her Petfinder profile at www.petfinder.com/petdetail/37949653. You can meet other animals available for adoption in person, seven days a week at RASKC’s King County Pet Adoption Center in Kent, 21615 64th Ave. S.; Monday: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Friday: noon to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday: noon to 5 p.m. Call 206-296-PETS, or email pets@kingcounty.gov.
