Free post-holiday recycling options for Federal Way residents

• Styrofoam block recycling: Free Styrofoam block drop-off runs through Jan. 10 at the Federal Way City Hall parking lot, 33325 Eighth Ave. South. Only clean white Styrofoam blocks are accepted for recycling – please no cups, food trays, foam sheeting or other plastics.

• Holiday tree recycling: Cut, natural holiday trees are picked up for free from all Federal Way residents on the regular neighborhood collection day during the weeks of Dec. 30 and Jan. 6.

• Old electronics: Take your old, broken or unwanted electronics such as computers, TVs, cell phones and other household electronics to A Plus Removal and Recycling at 1302 West Main St, No. 25, Auburn for free recycling.

• Used cooking oil: A free used cooking oil collection tank is available at the French Lake Dog Park parking area at 31531 First Ave. South, Federal Way.

Please note that Waste Management observes three annual holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day (Jan. 1). No garbage, recycling or yard waste will be collected these days and collection will shift to one day later for customers regularly scheduled on or after the holiday.
