Federal Way Symphony concert Sunday

The Federal Way Symphony Chamber Concert Series presents a Triumph of Tango at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 515 S. 312th St., Federal Way.

The symphony is featuring Concert Master Marjorie Kransberg-Talvi. Joining her is local favorite William Chapman Nyaho on the piano and Mara Finkelstein on cello.

Selections include Beethoven’s “Piano Trio in C Minor,” Shostakovich’s “Piano Trio” and Astor Piazzola’s “Primavera Portena” from his Four Seasons of Buenos Aires.

Piazzola is famous for his tango music, termed “nuevo tango,” or new tango style, which borrows from jazz and classical music.

Federal Way Symphony is the only professional orchestra in the area and one of the largest arts organizations in the south Puget Sound. It has been entertaining Federal Way audiences for 30 years.
