The school held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last Friday and a tour of the finished wings

Federal Way High School hosted an open house last Friday to cut the ribbon on the completed first phase of its remodel, showing off the school’s new classrooms and readying the site to start Phase II.

Federal Way Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Tammy Campbell cut the now-open wing’s ribbon with Federal Way High School’s student body president Kaleigha Lang. Attendees were also treated to district speakers, a rally, student art, a performance from the school’s choir and a tour of the finished halls. Federal Way High’s six-year construction schedule is halfway finished now, with the new theater, gyms and kitchen up next. Full occupancy is slated for late 2017. Funding for the remodel comes from a six-year levy that was approved by voters in 2013, something the district acknowledged with “Thank you voters” signs. Photos courtesy of Bruce Honda
