Federal Way Symphony proudly presents an organ and symphony concert, featuring two guest artists and beloved classical selections including Chopin’s concerto no. 1 in e minor and Saint-Saens’ Organ Symphony no. 3, made famous by the movie “Babe.”

This program is appropriate for audiences of all ages and features Michael Plagerman (organ), Christopher Son Richardson (piano), and Federal Way Symphony, under music direction of A. Brian Davenport. The concert takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 28 at Saint Vincent de Paul Church, 30525 Eighth Ave. S., Federal Way.

Michael Plagerman, a native of Lynden, Washington, has played organ for most of his life. He began his studies during high school with Barry Williams after his family moved to Ephrata, at which time he served as director of music at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

He presently studies organ with Paul Tegels and choral conducting with Richard Nance at Pacific Lutheran University, where he is student director of the chapel choir and president of award-winning Choir of the West. Plagerman is the director of music and principal organist at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Lakewood.

Christopher Son Richardson is the Grand Prix/Scholarship Winner of the 2013/2015 Northwest Chopin Foundation. He was the featured soloist with several orchestras including Minnesota Orchestra, Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra and Port Angeles Symphony Orchestra. He was the top prize-winner in many national and international piano competitions.

He won first prize at 2010 SF Chopin, first prize at the 2011 Seattle International Piano, and at the International Russian Competitions. He won third prize at the Lennox International Young Artists Concerto 2011, as well as third prize in the 2014 American Prize Competition.

He also studied chamber music on a scholarship at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, appeared on NPR’s “From the Top” and was the featured performer. His performances include Finney Chapel at Oberlin International Artists Recital Series Festival, Aspen Music Festival, and Sejong International Music Festival. He currently studies with Craig Sheppard and Duane Hulbert.

Tickets for the organ and symphony concert are available pre-sale for $15 (seniors) and $20 (adults), and at the door for $25 (adults), $20 (seniors), $15 (students 19 and over with student identification), and youth 18 and under are free.
