Dear voters in the Federal Way Public Schools district,

I am writing to ask you to join me in voting for Angela Griffin, Federal Way School Board, Position 2. Angela is the best candidate for this position and is passionate about education, world-class educational standards and parent/school partnerships! I have known Angela for several years and supported her when she previously served on Federal Way’s school board.

Angela is an experienced school board director. She is wise to the process and brings stability with the appropriate amount of change needed for our school district. In the past year or so, the school district has had many missteps and had many critical articles written about it most weeks in the Federal Way Mirror.

Very little seems to have changed at the school district. There are still issues with parents feeling their schools are out of touch and personnel issues seem to still be concerns among the staff. Both being out of touch and having been unresolved, possibly illegal personnel issues are expensive to the district and ultimately to the taxpayer. Angela will be a calming force in bringing about both change and stability within our schools.

One of Angela’s strongest skills is her calming nature. She is an excellent listener! She is soft-spoken yet firm. She is kind but she demands accountability. I have personally seen her ask hard questions and won’t just settle for standard-level answers. This is the leadership our board needs! Demanding accountability by using facts and data is another one of her strengths. She is excellent at breaking down the data in order to uncover the story behind the data.

As a school board director, Angela knows that leadership starts at the top. She knows that when the district’s staff feel secure that they will perform in the top tier. I believe Angela can help bridge the gap between labor and management so that everyone wins. She is a champion for truth, justice and equity.

Passion is the one thing that strikes out at you when you chat with Angela. She is passionate for schools and passionate that our Federal Way schools can be better  and that our schools can be better for all its students. It is true when they say a rising tide lifts all boats. Angela is that rising tide.
