I believe Skip Priest is the best person for the job. As board president of Friends of the Hylebos, I worked with Skip and got to know him well. Mr. McKenzie is right that you can learn about character based on a person’s accomplishments and awards, and I offer a list of Skip’s for a closer look at his civic concerns.
The dictionary describes the word judgment as “the ability to judge, make a decision, or form an opinion objectively, authoritatively, and wisely, especially in matters affecting action; good sense; discretion.”
Every city has its own culture and personality. Federal Way is no different, and being 23 years young, it is still working to establish a clear identity.
It is with great pleasure that I endorse Martin Moore for position six of the Federal Way City Council.
At the Oct. 9 debate, as I sat listening to the candidates, a few thoughts came to mind.
We just got back from Maui last night and this morning decided to read some of the past four weeks of the Federal Way Mirror.
At the top of my list of admirable qualities, when choosing friends, is integrity. Honesty is the one trait I deem most important. That is the least of which I expect of my leaders, our public servants.
I’m writing a letter to support Mayor Skip Priest.
In the “great sign flap,” I would encourage people to read the TNT’s professionally written version of the story. It was objective and non-biased reporting.
Another thought about the Performing Arts and Conference Center (PACC). The pair of Cs in the abbreviation are for “conference center.”

I have known Skip for over 22 years. While we have not always seen eye to eye, he has always treated me with the utmost respect.
I have known Bill Gates for over 25 years. He is a friend, a neighbor, and is an outstanding South King Fire Commissioner.
I’ve known Kelly for 10 years. We’ve served on volunteer committees together. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to see how her clear thinking has benefitted the community. There is no better example of this than her job creation initiative that will bring higher education to Federal Way.
We wish to express our strong endorsement of Jeanne Burbidge for re-election to the Federal Way City Council. The criteria in a candidate that we hold dear are integrity, dedication, sincerity, and experience. These qualities are found in Jeanne.
Many reasons have been given as to why Martin Moore should be elected to the Federal Way City Council, but to me his most important ones are his dedication to his community and his desire to make a positive difference in the community he grew up in.
When we were moving into South King County in 1972, we were advised not to buy in Federal Way (school board in turmoil, “negative forces” prevailing).
I enjoy reading your column each week, and noticed the concerns voiced about the lack of bus transportation within a mile of a school and, more recently, about the lack of lockers in schools. I’d like to offer some additional context, and a suggestion regarding your transportation concerns.
I write this letter not for any benefit of my own, but to express my concern over the idea of creating a Federal Way Performing Arts and Conference Center (PACC).
The Federal Way School Board and its superintendent, who was recently given a hefty pay raise without much public discourse, seem to have forgotten some simple everyday medical advice: when your patient is deathly ill, you “bring in” the specialists.
