Midway landfill is extremely poor choice

Stirring up that toxic waste site would be a disaster that we could not undo.

Hello my friends and neighbors of Federal Way. Sorry for my absence of late but snowmageddon 2019 kept me busy staying warm and cozy hoping that my electricity would not fail. Believe it or not, the electricity didn’t fail but my internet connection did for a bit.

To business at hand that’s important to us Federal Wayans – Sound Transit and its operations and maintenance facility siting.

The Midway landfill is an extremely poor choice. Doesn’t anyone remember the fact it’s a super fund site? Stirring up that toxic waste site would be quite frankly a disaster that we could not undo, think Chernobyl.

The Mirror had an article about Sound Transit’s issue of a maintenance facility. Well shucks folks, in the same paper there was talk about Federal Way having disparate wage earners who can’t afford to buy a home here, that those folks have to travel out of the city to earn enough to live here.

May I be bold to suggest that the maintenance facility will have plenty of upper income jobs and I would welcome those individuals to not only work here but live here. We obviously need those higher paying wage earners, so let’s encourage Sound Transit to locate their facility here in our beloved city that has the most spectacular view of Mount Rainier than any other city and ask that their employees seriously consider living here. They could offer them an incentive to do so; after all, it’s our money they would use for the incentive. We would get a win-win-win.

On homelessness that was highlighted by the paper involving the mayor and our beloved Bob Roegner dude, well geez, fellars, you’ve been seeing this phenomenon for over five years. It’s about time you got your hands dirty and looked homelessness in the face. The statements in the article seem to be a self-serving backdrop for a photo op. Sorry, mayor, you sent our money to Burien and want to appear caring for our local families who need help? I don’t buy it.
