Thanks to the Mayor and City Council for passing an ordinance [last] Tuesday to freeze new multi-family dwellings in Federal Way for at least six months. This is a good move that all citizens in Federal Way should appreciate, especially those that live in multi-family dwellings!

At the end of the review and update to our city plan with regards to multi-family dwellings, we need to be sure that at least three things happen:

First, we need to be sure that we have enough room in our schools for the new families that the multi-family dwellings bring in large numbers. We need more classroom space before these dwellings are occupied!

Second, we need to be sure that we follow the Bureau of Justice Statistics and have in place prior to occupancy in these multi-family dwellings 1.8 police officers to every 1,000 citizens in Federal Way We need more police officers to support our great police department!

Third, every multi-family complex needs to have Safe City cameras in operation prior to occupancy.

These items would make the multi-family dwellings better places for residents and would help to Save Federal Way. Please make good use of this opportunity!
