Julie Hiller gets things done | Letter

A businesswoman with a heart of gold, Julie is also a tireless volunteer who plans and sees projects through to the end.

Julie Hiller is exactly what Federal Way needs. A businesswoman with a heart of gold, Julie is also a tireless volunteer who plans and sees projects through to the end.

Active at both her daughter’s school and at church, Julie gets things done while putting people at ease along the way. She encourages others to pitch in and work alongside her, and she is quick to express her appreciation at a job well done. She has the gift of creating community and teamwork among those who were strangers before working together.

Julie Hiller also listens with great empathy, a valuable skill when serving in city government. I’ve worked with many parent volunteers in my 20-plus years of teaching junior high, but I’ve never seen one who can connect with people the way Julie does. From pre-schoolers to new school parents to veteran teachers, I saw her put them at ease and make them feel valued.

I have lived in Federal Way since the mid-80s and have seen our community grow from a suburban bedroom community to a thriving city. Some of that growth has been without a clear plan or purpose, and we need leaders like Julie Hiller who can make decisions now with an eye toward making a positive impact on our future.

Because she is already an influential and inspiring leader in our community, and because she has a heart for others and the ability to finish what she starts, Julie Hiller is the person we want representing us on the Federal Way City Council.
