Federal Way Harmony Kings compete in Boise

The Federal Way Harmony Kings Barbershop Chorus, under the direction of Karen Frerichs, competed in a district competition Oct. 25 in Boise, Idaho. A total of 16 choruses competed at the Boise State University Campus. The Harmony Kings placed seventh; last year, the group placed 12th.
Also competing was the quartet “Beginner’s Luck.” The quartet has been together for about a year and competed in an international competition this summer in Nashville, Tenn. Out of 26 quartets, they made it to the semi-finals and finished seventh in overall competition as well as first in the novice division.
The group will perform at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 13 for the Dickens Festival, which runs 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 20 Tacoma Ave. S. in Tacoma. To learn more, call (425) 373-6271.
