Fright Fest at Wild Waves: The Halloween experience runs in October with 25 rides operating in the dark of night and two bone-chilling haunted houses. On Friday and Saturday nights, the wave pool will become a dance floor with Halloween-themed music. New this year is the Playground 3D Haunted House. Souper Supper: The Federal Way Community Caregiving Network (FWCCN) is hosting its annual Souper Supper Fundraiser from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 24 at Steel Lake Presbyterian Church, 1829 S. 308th St. Proceeds will support temporary housing, living assistance and food to people in need. A large variety of soups will be served. Guest speakers include Richard LeMieux, author of “Breakfast at Sally,” and Erin Jones, Director of Equity and Achievement for FWPS. Trick or Troop: Camp Kilworth, 30900 50th Ave. SW, is hosting a Trick or Troop event from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 25. The event is free and presented by local Boy Scouts. Kids can trick-or-treat for candy at stations throughout Camp Kilworth, with BB gun and archery ranges open. There will also be a haunted forest for older kids.
Freaky 5K: The Freaky 5K will begin at at 11 a.m. Oct. 26 at the Federal Way Community Center. The event features a new format, pitting “zombies” vs. runners. Each runner will receive a flag football belt with two flags. Zombies will be scattered along the BPA Trail trying to capture the runners flags. Finish the run with a flag in place and you are a survivor. Zombies who capture the most flags will receive prizes. There will also be prizes for runners and kids, as well as best costumes. Register as a runner ($30) or a zombie ($10).
Harmony Kings Barbershop Chorus: A free community appreciation concert supported by the Federal Way Arts Commission will begin at 2 p.m. Oct. 27 at St. Luke’s Church, 515 S. 312th St. Info: (425) 372-6231 or harmonykings.org.
Halloween photos: The Commons at Federal Way is offering a place to trick-or-treat from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 31. For a $2 donation to the Multi-Service Center, you will receive a photo of your trick-or-treater.
Macy’s re-opening: The Macy’s store at The Commons will host a grand re-opening on Oct. 26 where people can make a donation or bring canned-food donations to receive a one-day, 15 percent discount card that can be used before Jan. 31 at Macy’s. There is a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m.
