Symphony performs 'February Winterlude'

The Federal Way Symphony has a way this weekend for classical-music lovers to fight off the winter blahs –– “A February Winterlude,” the third concert of the symphony’s 2003-04 season.

The music of Ravel, Prokofiev and Weber will be featured tonight at 8 p.m. and tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Church. In addition, oboist Fred Fox will perform composer Richard Strauss’ “Oboe Concerto.”

St. Luke’s is at 515 S. 312th St. in Federal Way.

Anyone under 18 years old is admitted free to symphony concerts. For others, ticket prices are $20 and $16. Sales outlets include Cafe Europa Antiques and Gifts at 30406 Pacific Hwy. S., Westfair Home Decor and Gifts at 31861 Gateway Center Blvd. S., and Archie’s Diner at Brown’s Point, 6620 East Side Dr. NE. More information is available at 529-0495.

Remaining concerts this season include “A Spring Journey to Italy” April 3-4, “An Evening of Chamber Music” May 2, and “The Symphony Swings” June 5-6.
