Dinner (at home) and a show pump up Centerstage

Dinner theater with a homey twist will be served next month as a major fund-raiser for Centerstage Theatre.

The Federal Way-based stage group’s board of directors is coordinating several dinner parties in private homes. Each will take place on Sept. 20. After their meals, the hosts and guests will go to Knutzen Family Theatre to watch a performance of the play, "Dinner with Friends."

Each dinner party will be unique because the host can determine the menu and the number of guests, organizers said. It’s expected that old friends will come together and meet and mingle with new friends at the homes and then in the Knutzen lobby before the play begins.

Proceeds will support Centerstage's general operations budget for next year's season “so that we can continue to bring quality live theatre to the Federal Way area,” a spokeswoman said.

Although hosts can invite their own guests, the Centerstage board will help match hosts with guests to fill up their homes. Prospective hosts and guests can call Centerstage at 661-1444.
