Wild Waves Theme Park will host Heroes Weekend on Sept. 10 and 11. This marks the last weekend of summer operations for Wild Waves, located on Enchanted Parkway South off I-5. First responders, law enforcement, fire personnel and military (active and retired) will receive free admission this weekend. Family members accompanying these heroes will receive 50 percent off admission.

From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, South King Fire and Rescue will display a steel beam from the World Trade Center. In the morning, the park will hold a key ceremony for local Medal of Honor recipient Joe Jackson. The Thomas Jefferson High School band will provide music.

In July, Wild Waves officially unveiled a new water ride called The Riptide. The 70-acre park features more than 60 attractions, including four roller coasters, 20 water rides and a wave pool. The park also employs nearly 1,000 people between its summer and Halloween FrightFest seasons. To learn more, visit or call (253) 661-8001.
