Wild Waves Theme Park unveils The Riptide
July 27, 2011 · 3:19 PM
Wild Waves Theme Park officially unveiled a new water ride called The Riptide.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held July 23 at the amusement park, located off Interstate 5 on Enchanted Parkway South in Federal Way. The name was chosen earlier this summer in an online contest.
According to Wild Waves management, The Riptide sends riders through a steep chute that swirls them around the outer perimeter before sending riders toward a patented Corkscrew exit at the bowl's center, ending in a splash pool below.
The Riptide marks the first new water attraction at Wild Waves since Zooma Falls opened in 2005.
The 70-acre park features more than 60 attractions, including four roller coasters, 20 water rides and a wave pool. The park also employs nearly 1,000 people between its summer and Halloween FrightFest seasons. To learn more, visit www.wildwaves.com or call (253) 661-8001.
