Preschool literacy program; free formal dresses for teens

Preschool literacy: Green Gables Elementary is hosting a free weekly literacy program for preschool students from 9-10 a.m. Fridays in the Green Gables library, 32607 47th Ave. SW. The program aims to entertain, educate and interest children in reading. Activities each week include guest readers, music and crafts. Snacks are provided and books are available for checkout. Children who will be attending kindergarten at Green Gables are eligible to participate. Contact: (253) 945-2741 or

The program is also an opportunity to get students familiar with Green Gables and ease the transition into kindergarten. Children who will be attending kindergarten at Green Gables are eligible to participate.

Funding is provided by a $500 grant from the South King County nonprofit group South FACES (Family and Child Early Support). South FACES supports low cost events to help connect families and build social networking and establish community connections and resources. The program has also received donations from Green Gables families and the community. Volunteer opportunities are available.
