The National Scholastic Press Association named the 2009 Todd Beamer Thunderbolt Yearbook to the Best of High School Press magazine. The annual publication has been issued once per year for the last 15 years and only uses examples from the best yearbooks, school newspapers, and literary magazines in the country. In this edition, only examples from 18 different yearbooks across the nation were chosen. This is the first time the Todd Beamer book has been chosen for this publication. The editor of the 2009 Thunderbolt, themed "The Titan in You" is current University of Washington student April Alfiler.
