Four new bikes were given to the top readers at Lake Grove Elementary School in Federal Way. For the second year, Thornton F. McElroy Masonic Lodge in Federal Way has partnered with Lake Grove Elementary School and the Grand Lodge of Washington to provide reading rewards through the “Bikes for Books” program. Two bikes were contributed by the Lodge and were matched by two more donated through the school. The recipients are, left to right: Jose F., Siomara S., Andrew N. and Iana B. About 40 percent of the students participate in the Accelerated Readers program at Lake Grove, and those receiving bikes were selected from that program. The Masonic Lodge intends to continue the program next semester and expand to other schools when possible. Call (253) 838-0543.
