Battle of the Books 2009: Green Gables Elementary team takes first place

The “Reading R.A.T.S.” of Green Gables Elementary School won this year’s Battle of the Books, held March 26 at Decatur High School.

The winning team members were Ryan Anderson, Alexandria Kitchpanich, Treven Nielsen and Sebastian Green.

Each elementary school held individual competitions, with the winners going on to compete at Thursday’s event. Teams were asked 25 questions based on 19 books on this year’s list.

Federal Way School District superintendent Tom Murphy emceed the competition.
