South King Fire and Rescue's annual Community Food and Toy Drive began Nov. 17.

Donations of canned goods, nonperishable items and new and unwrapped toys will be accepted at donation barrels placed at each of SKFR's Des Moines and Federal Way fire stations.

The drive will continue through Dec. 19 with goods being distributed to needy families Dec. 22. The drive will provide food and holiday gifts for children. Last year, the drive provided a Christmas dinner and a week's worth of food to 120 families. SKFR distributed 479 presents to children as well.

For information on how businesses, individuals or organizations can get involved with this year’s drive, contact Donna Conner at South King Fire and Rescue at (253) 946-7246. To locate a fire station, visit www.federalwayfire.org.
