Volunteers collect food for Federal Way organization during MLK event

The Diversity Commission, city of Federal Way staff and volunteers spent Saturday collecting food for the Multi-Service Center as part of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day activities and celebrations.

Collection centers were set up at Fred Meyer, Twin Lakes Safeway, Walmart Supercenter, Walmart at 314th Street, Albertsons and Safeway on 320th Street.

Members of Americorps, Thomas Jefferson High School Key Club, Todd Beamer High School’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps and diversity commissioners volunteered to man the collection sites.

Chris Brown of Lloyd Enterprises drove the collection van to deliver food to the the Multi-Service Center in Federal Way.
