On May 4, The Light of Christ Community Garden held its first Spring Into Action Walk/Run.

The goal of the event was to get the community out to meet neighbors and exercise in a 5K run or 1.5-mile walk. The routes went through neighborhoods and parts of the BPA Trail.

Church youth groups Light of Christ GLOW and Brooklake’s Love Unleashed joined volunteers in encouraging walkers and runners. South King Fire and Rescue was on hand to provide first aid, and children were entertained by crafts.

In September 2012, the Light of Christ Community Garden, located at 34249 21st Ave. SW in Federal Way, had its dedication and ribbon cutting. The garden encourages healthy living and provides fresh organic produce to those in need.
