The following is a sample from the Federal Way police public information log:
At 1:53 a.m. Jan. 1, a man reported that he was assaulted by an unknown man at a party at 31500 33rd Place S.W. The assailant was asked to leave the party for being disruptive.
At 2:52 a.m. Jan. 1, a person died in a car crash at 2500 S. Star Lake Road. The victim crashed into a parked car before their vehicle was engulfed in flames.
At 5:05 a.m. Jan. 1, a woman reported being beaten by her boyfriend at 27818 25th Drive S. The woman suffered bruises and cuts on her face.
At 10:55 a.m. Jan. 1, a man reported that another man was in the street at 35600 12th Ave. S.W. around 1 a.m. swinging a machete and damaging his car.
At 1:04 a.m. Dec. 31, two people reported being cut with a knife in the parking lot at 2215 S.W. 356th St. The suspect was found at a friends house carrying a butterfly knife and was identified by the victim and a witness.
At 9:32 a.m. Dec. 31, the manager of a restaurant at 31740 23rd Ave. S. reported that someone broke in and stole half of the alcohol from the bar. The suspects also damaged the cash register. The alcohol was valued at $2,000.
At 1:24 p.m. Dec. 31, a Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife officer called Federal Way police to assist at Steel Lake Park, 2410 S. 312th St. The officer had detained a man who was found in possession of nearly 100 pairs of soiled womens underwear. The man admitted to having a womens underwear fetish.
At 3:25 p.m. Dec. 31, a man reported that someone cut down three trees on his property at 30217 33rd Ave. S.W. The man said he suspects his neighbor, with whom hes having an ongoing land dispute.
At 6:57 p.m. Dec. 31, a woman reported that she was walking near 1040 S. 320th St. when a teenage boy walked up behind her and stole her purse off her arm. The boy then jumped over a fence and ran away.
At 12:13 p.m. Dec. 29, officers responded to a bank robbery at the U.S. Bank, 1436 S. 312th St.
At 4:11 p.m. Dec. 28, a substitute teacher was arrested at Lakota Middle School, 1415 S.W. 314th St., after attempting to purchase $40 worth of marijuana from a 14-year-old student. Charges had not yet been formally filed at press time and the police department wouldnt release any further details or comment on the case.
