The following is a sample from the Federal Way police public information log:

• At 7:07 a.m. Jan. 7, a woman opened her garage door at 627 S.W. 294th St. and discovered a man sitting in the passenger seat of her car. The man greeted her with “good morning.” The woman screamed for her husband and the man calmly exited the vehicle and walked away. Police later determined that the man had been trying to steal her car stereo/navigation system.

• At 8:35 a.m. Jan. 7, officers responded to Mirror Lake Elementary School, 625 S. 314th St., after receiving reports that a boy was the victim of unwanted touching of a sexual nature. The case was forwarded on to detectives.

• At 2:02 a.m. Jan. 6, officers responded to reports of shots fired outside a home at 35435 12th Ave. S.W.

• At 4:12 a.m. Jan. 6, officers responded to the AM/PM, 27202 Pacific Highway South, after a person refused to leave the store and then threw items all of the floor and at the cashier’s head.

• At 4:04 p.m. Jan. 6, officers responded to the AM/PM, 27202 Pacific Highway South, after a man refused to leave the property and then urinated near the gas pumps. There was a struggle when the officer arrested him and the man suffered minor injuries and was also booked on suspicion of resisting arrest.
