Light of Christ Community Garden breaks ground Sept. 18

The Light of Christ Lutheran Church Community Garden will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 18. The site is located on the corner of SW 344th Street and 21st Avenue SW, across from the Twin Lakes Park and Ride in Federal Way.

Volunteers will be clearing a portion of the land, belonging to Light of Christ Lutheran Church, for the community garden. The garden will hold approximately 40 raised beds, eight of which will be built at a height to accommodate people with limited mobility. There will be an area of reflection with a fountain and framing a view of Mt. Rainer, along with an area for education.

The public can “buy a brick” that will become the main walkway of the garden, sponsor a bed or garden item or help build the garden itself. For more information, to volunteer or to make a tax-deductible donation, contact Jim Cox at jim.e.cox@comcast.net or (253) 952-8339. Also visit www.thelight.org.
