Four new bikes were given to the top readers at Lake Grove Elementary School in Federal Way.

For the fourth year Thornton F. McElroy Masonic Lodge in Federal Way (tfmcelroy.org) has partnered with Lake Grove Elementary School and the Grand Lodge of Washington to provide reading rewards through the “Bikes for Books” program.

Jeff Cohn, dean of students, stated: “The bikes are an extra incentive for our students. They provide an additional goal for them to read more than they might otherwise during the school year.” About 30 percent of the students participate in the Accelerated Readers program at Lake Grove; those receiving bikes were selected from that program. The recipients are Anu B., Faith M., Lamar R. and Emmanuel M.

The Masonic Lodge intends to continue the program next year. To learn more, email tfm302@q.com.
